Darrell was an Assistant Vice President in a financial services company. He had at one time been identified as a high potential employee, but his employer was struggling financially and had curtailed all employee development activities. Not surprisingly, Darrell felt uncomfortable and came to believe that the company was less than committed to his future growth.
