Out of the workforce for awhile?

Unsure about how to market your skills and previous experience?

Uncertain about how to create a resume and start looking for a job?

Many people are faced with the dilemma of how to look for work after being out of the workforce for awhile. Wondering how to create a resume that covers the gap in time between positions? Wondering how to market your skills and appear current in your field? Need help navigating the job search process? Career Summit can give you the direction and confidence you need.

Karen’s Story

Karen had worked as an office manager about 10 years ago, but took time off to raise her children. They were almost grown now and Karen wanted to work again (possibly part-time), but didn’t know how to get started or how to explain the gap in her employment history. She contacted Tom at Career Summit for professional guidance. Tom suggested they start with an assessment to update her interests and values. Tom helped Karen create a resume that called out her previous experience and skills and leveraged volunteer work that she had done in recent years. They did mock interviewing to increase her confidence in her interviewing skills and better communicate her strengths. Since Karen wanted to work only certain hours, Tom helped her research different options and to target those opportunities. Armed with these new tools and confidence, Karen was able to land a position in a medical office that gave her the flexibility she needed.

Benefits that Karen received from Coaching:

  • A professional resume that bridged a gap in work experience
  • Improved confidence when interviewing and promoting her skills
  • Guidance on how to research a variety of positions and options
